MOSCOW, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Navy has received a new frigate for its Black Sea Fleet, Russian media reported Tuesday.
The Admiral Makarov, delivered to the Russian Ministry of Defense,commenced sea trials in 2015.
It is the third of six Admiral Grigorovich class frigates the Russian Navy plans to acquire. The first two were handed over in 2016 and construction of the remaining three will start in 2018.
The frigates, with a speed of up to 30 knots and manned by a staff of 180 sailors each, will be deployed to counter ships, submarines and airborne targets.
The Black Sea Fleet operates in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean.
