KHARTOUM, May 10 (Xinhua) -- The final round of the Chinese proficiency competition for foreign college students was held Thursday at the headquarters of Sudan National Petroleum Corporation.
The competition, known as the Sudanese regional contest of the 17th "Chinese Bridge" Competition, brought together 12 contestants from three major Sudanese universities, including Khartoum, Bahri and Karary universities besides Confucius Institute in Sudan.
Muzn Mohamednour Abdulwahab Jibreel majoring in Chinese Language Department at University of Khartoum is the final winner. She will represent Sudan in the finals of the global "Chinese Bridge" competition in China.
"Language is a tool for inheriting the culture and a bridge among people. If you master the Chinese language, then you can learn more about China's ancient history and civilization and its great achievements," said Chinese Ambassador to Sudan Li Lianhe while addressing the event.
"I sincerely hope that more Sudanese people will join Chinese language learners to contribute to the promotion of China-Sudan relations and inheritance of culture among peoples," he noted.
Hosted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters in China, the "Chinese Bridge" competition, one of the most significant platforms for college students across the world to study Chinese language, serves as a bridge to promote the cultural exchanges between China and the outside world.
