???? An 8.1-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on April 25, killing and injuring thousands of people in Nepal and in Xigaze, in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. The military area commands of Chengdu and Tibet launched an emergency response. China's Central Military Commission ordered the immediate deployment of rescue teams in Nepal, with four IL-76 transport planes dispatched to help relief work. The China International Search and Rescue Team (CISAR), a medical team from the Chengdu Military Area Command, a sapper team and a chemical response team from the 14th Group Army of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) went to Nepal. Meanwhile, a transport team from the Chinese Armed Police Force was assigned to repair the road connecting Katmandu and Zham, a border pass connecting Nepal and Tibet. The troops brought hope to people in the quake-hit area.
