JOHANNESBURG, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Share prices on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) closed weaker on Friday for the sixth consecutive day as property stocks remained on the back foot.
The all share was down 1.02 percent to 58,656.82 points, and the top 40 lost 1.04 percent. The platinum index shed 3.18 percent and the property index lost 2.24 percent.
The South African rand weakened on a stronger dollar after U.S. nonfarm payroll data came in better than expected, with 200,000 jobs created in January from a forecasted 180,000.
At the close, the local unit was at R12.08 to the dollar from Thursday's R11.85. Enditem
