DALIAN, China, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster has been appointed as head coach of Dalian Yifang, the Chinese Super League club announced late on Monday.
The 58-year-old Schuster will succeed Ma Lin, who was fired after Yifang went on a three-game losing streak from the kick-off of the 2018 CSL season.
Yifang was the last among the 16 CSL teams to appoint a head coach for the new season. Ironically, the CSL newcomers also became the first club to name a replacement coach.
Schuster won two La Liga titles with Real Madrid in the late 1980s and then led them to another title as head coach in 2008.
Schuster also made a fame as a player. He won 21 caps for the former West German national side and helped them win the championship at the Euro 1980.
