NAKURU, Kenya, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian domestic league winners Simba SC became the third team to qualify for the semifinals of the invitational SportPesa Super Cup Monday when they edged off Kenya's Kariobangi Sharks FC 3-2 on penalties.
The match played here ended goalless after 90 minutes before Simba prevailed in the shootout of the eight-team competition where the winners will get the chance to play English Premier League side Everton FC at Goodison Park as well as bagging 30,000 U.S. dollars.
The 19-time Tanzanian league winners will play Kenyan side Kakamega Homeboyz FC in the semifinal on Thursday.
Cup holders Gor Mahia FC of Kenya will play the winners between compatriots AFC Leopards SC and Singida United FC taking place on Tuesday at the same venue.
Simba became the first Tanzanian side to qualify for the last four after bitter rivals Yanga SC and Jeshi la Kujenga Uchumi of Zanzibar were knocked out on day one of the week-long tournament.
