PARIS, July 12 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.97 percent, or 51.97 points, to close at 5,405.90 points.
27 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.
French mass media conglomerate Vivendi advanced 5.44 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French aviation group Safran rose 2.85 percent, followed by French luxury group Kering which gained 2.82 percent.
French international retailer Carrefour went down by 2.98 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. International oil and gas industry service provider Technipfmc lost 0.75 percent, while international infrastructure material producer Saint-Gobain edged down 0.61 percent. Enditem
