LONDON, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt is in Romania on Friday to hold talks with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, the British Foreign Ministry said here.
During the visit, Hunt is expected to discuss with the Romanian leaders on areas of co-operation, including tackling modern slavery, hybrid threats, as well as Brexit and future relations, said the ministry.
It is Hunt's first official visit to Romania since he became the foreign secretary in 2018.
Before the start of the visit, Hunt said, "The UK and Romania are close allies on many issues, and that will continue when we leave the EU."
"I'm looking forward to discussing, with President Iohannis and Prime Minister Dancila how we develop our Strategic Partnership to help tackle security and hybrid threats," he said.
"While in Bucharest, I will also see an example of excellent UK-Romania economic co-operation with the opening of the London Stock Exchange office, making use of Romania's productive services sector," he added.
