SAO PAULO, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Third seed Guido Pella of Argentina advanced to the semifinals of the Brasil Open with a straight sets victory over fellow Argentine Marco Trungelliti on Friday.
Pella needed just an hour and 20 minutes to wrap up the match 6-0, 6-3 on the indoor clay at Ginasio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo.
The 28-year-old will meet Laslo Djere in the semifinals on Saturday following the Serb's 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 win over Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime.
The other semifinal will pit Chile's Christian Garin against Norway's Casper Ruud after both won their respective quarterfinals on Friday.
Garin prevailed 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 over Argentina's Leonardo Mayer and Ruud overcame Hugo Dellien of Bolivia 6-1, 6-2.
