TUNIS, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Foreign Minister Khamaies Jhinaoui on Wednesday highlighted the need to put an end to the fighting in Libya.
In separate telephone conversations with UN Special Envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame and Libyan Foreign Minister Mohamed Taher Siala, Jhinaoui called for a peaceful solution to the conflict in the war-torn country.
According to a note sent to Xinhua by the Tunisian foreign ministry, Jhinaoui reiterated that priority should be given to dialogue and the political process among conflicting Libyan factions under the umbrella of the United Nations.
The Tunisian top diplomat voiced support for the UN efforts to stop the bloody fighting and the military escalation in Libya in order to preserve the safety and security of innocent civilians.
