BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tech giant Baidu Thursday launched a smart mini-program dedicated to promoting Switzerland in its first attempt to brand overseas nations via its popular mobile app.
The specific mini-program features general information about and tourism resources of Switzerland as well as related service information such as visa application procedures. More services and functions will be added later, according to a statement from Baidu.
The company will also leverage its other platforms such as the Wikipedia-like Baidu Baike to introduce the popular European tourism destination in multimedia forms.
Launched last July to promote smart marketing and improve user experience, Baidu's intelligent mini-program had over 150 million monthly active users by the end of last year, offering services to many government agencies and companies.
The attempt will improve mutual understanding and interactivity between millions of Chinese users and Switzerland, said Baidu CEO Robin Li, adding that China's artificial intelligence technologies will nurture more innovative applications thanks to the exchanges and cooperation between the East and the West.
