ISLAMABAD, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan Army chief and Russian Ground Force Commander-in-Chief on Tuesday discussed to enhance security and training cooperation besides taking measures to further expand joint military ties between the two countries, said a statement of Pakistan army's media wing the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Russian Ground Force Commander-in-Chief Oleg Salyukov, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, and Pakistani Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa held a meeting at Pakistani military's general headquarters in east garrison Rawalpindi city, said the statement.
"Cooperation between the militaries of both countries will not only help in improving peace and stability in the region but will also usher economic prosperity," Bajwa said at the meeting.
Salyukov appreciated the Pakistan army's professionalism and achievements in the war against terrorism. He also expressed his desire to forge strong and broad-based relations with Pakistan.
