MADRID, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Espanyol coach David Gallego was happy but promised no let-up after his side overcame a difficult first half before four second-half goals all but assure his side's progress in the penultimate qualifying round of the Europa League.
Two goals each from last season's top scorer Borja Iglesias and Facundo Ferreyra gave Espanyol a 4-0 win over Icelandic side Stjarnan FC, which all but books them a third-round tie against either Swiss side Luzern or KI of the Faroe Islands.
The win also saw Wu Lei play 36 minutes as a second-half substitute, with his pace and movement coming at the perfect time as the Stjarnan players began to suffer in the heat of the Cornella El Prat Stadium.
Speaking after the game, Espanyol coach Gallego said that despite the win, there would be no respite in the second leg.
"We intend to go to Iceland to win," he said.
Gallego said he was pleased with the display which comes after less than a month of pre-season preparation.
"I am very excited by the performance and the way we looked to cause them problems. We will continue to improve and next week we will have another week of training behind us," he commented.
