YAOUNDE, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Eritrean cyclist Jakob Debesay emerged the overall winner after covering five laps during the second edition of Africa Under 23 (U-23) Cycling Nations Cup, in Cameroon, according to final results announced Saturday by officials of Vivendi Sports which organised the event in collaboration with the International Cycling Union.
"Jakob Denesay demonstrated extraordinary skills during the competition that lasted for six days. He has won the yellow jersey. The competition was well organized by host, Cameroon." officials said.
The championship kicked off Monday in the absence of Nigeria and Kenya that previously signed up for the competition but failed to show up citing "internal problems".
